After losing the opening two matches, the PCB made a daring call by sweeping changes to both the squad and the coaching staff ahead of the final Test.
This decision sparked intense debate, particularly because the PCB asked several senior cricketers to return after they were replaced midway through the assignment. One of the many prominent names was Pakistan‘s T20I captain, Salman Ali Agha, who featured in the opening Test.

According to several unverified reports in Pakistan, Salman Ali Agha is back in the spotlight after being released from the Test squad. It has been revealed that the batter has been asked to rejoin the Pakistan squad ahead of the 3rd Test at Edgbaston.
The development comes after PCB confirmed a major reshuffle in the squad following their 194-run defeat in the second Test at Lord’s. Pakistan had lost the series but were looking to rebuild to avoid a clean sweep in the three-match series.
The development included the omission of seven players, including Agha, Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq and a few others. This was a surprising move, as Agha had captained Pakistan in the 1st match of the series at Headingley, when regular skipper Babar Azam was ruled out due to a finger injury.
However, his performance as a player was limited in that fixture, returning with scores of 21 and 4 in the two innings. Subsequently, Pakistan management dropped him from the playing XI ahead of the second Test at Lord’s.
This online chatter that has surfaced recently has also mentioned that he has been summoned to meet King Charles today at the Clearance House.
However, until confirmed by sources close to the PCB, this will remain merely a social media report. He was officially released from the squad, and there has been no official confirmation regarding either his return or the high-profile meeting.
