Shubman Gill made 47 runs off 28 balls with eight fours.
Shubman Gill failed to build on a brilliant start in the recent India versus Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Super Four game. This match is being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on September 21, 2025.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bat first. Pakistan’s innings was centered around Sahibzada Farhan’s 58 off 45 balls and his partnerships with other batters. Farhan added 72 runs with Saim Ayub, who made 21 after three ducks in the tournament.
Farhan hit five fours and three sixes in his knock, and thanks to Mohammad Nawaz (21) and Faheem Ashraf (20*), Pakistan posted 171/5 in 20 overs. For India, Shivam Dube took two wickets for 33 runs. It was a par total in Dubai in T20Is, and with Pakistan’s bowling lineup, they were expected to defend it.
Shubman Gill hits big, adding more than 100 runs with Abhishek Sharma before dismissal
Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill gave the team a flying start. Abhishek Sharma started by hitting Shaheen Afridi for a huge six off the first ball he faced, and the floodgates opened from there.
Shubman Gill joined in and hammered Afridi for a couple of boundaries in the next over, and the Punjab duo began taking the Pakistani bowlers apart. India reached their 50 in just 4.4 overs, as Abrar Ahmad, the most economical Pakistani bowler, was hammered for runs by Abhishek Sharma.
Shubman Gill looked in good form as he took on the Pakistani bowlers, hitting 8 fours in his 28-ball 47 runs. Gill added 105 runs with Abhishek Sharma for the first wicket before getting out.
He suffered cramps in the 10th over, and hence, drinks were taken. After drinks, Faheem Ashraf bowled a cross-seam delivery that came back in sharply and went through the bat-pad gap as Gill tried to play a shot.
He lost his off-stump to Ashraf, who celebrated in a hard way.
