[Watch] Fan invades security, touches Virat Kohli's feet during RCB vs PBKS IPL 2024 clash

Virat Kohli hammered his 51st IPL and 100th T20 half-century.

A teenage fan broke through security to greet his idol Virat Kohli during the ongoing IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, March 25.

The incident occurred while RCB were just starting their run chase in the second innings and Virat Kohli was taking his strike.

A young fan of his entered the field and made a beeline to touch Kohli’s feet while kneeling and hugging him. However, security went towards the supporter and promptly removed him from the pitch to avoid any potential interruption to the contest.

And it’s nothing new for Kohli to encounter such moments when fans go all the way to breach security just to meet their favorite star on the ground. The star batter was also seen in the past to humbly accept their gestures.

Virat Kohli scores a brilliant half-century, his 100th in T20 cricket

Virat Kohli has a massive following as compared to other current cricketers in India as well as across the world. This was not the first time that a fan invaded the pitch to meet Kohli.

Earlier in the game, RCB captain Faf du Plessis had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. PBKS managed to make 176/6 in 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan made 45, while Jitesh Sharma (27), Shashank Singh (21* in 8), and Prabhsimran Singh (25) made valuable contributions as well.

Virat Kohli started well, hitting four boundaries in RCB’s first over itself against Sam Curran. He raced off to his 51st IPL fifty in just 31 balls and in doing so, hit his 100th T20 fifty as well.
