Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are clashing with Delhi Capitals (DC) in their fourth match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The encounter got underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and opted to field first. CSK lost their opener Ruturaj Gaikwad cheaply for 15 runs but his partner Sanju Samson played a magical innings and lifted the monkey off his back after his three failures.
Samson slammed DC bowlers all over the park, helping the team to reach 61 runs in the Powerplay. With Ayush Mhatre, he etched a partnership of 113 runs for the second wicket. Mhatre and Samson made up for the early loss of Gaikwad and added crucial runs in the middle overs, maintaining a run rate of around 10.
Samson struggled to score runs in the first three games, losing his wicket for single digits. He was also criticised for his batting after joining the team in IPL 2026. However, the right-handed batsman made a big comeback against DC, smashing the first century by any batsman in IPL 2026.
He reached the three-figure mark in the 18th over off 52 deliveries. Notably, this is Sanju’s fourth ton in the IPL. With his knock, he helped the CSK to reach 212/2 on the board.
He eventually ended with an unbeaten 115* runs off 56 deliveries, hitting 15 fours and four sixes. His knock has come at the right moment as CSK are desperate for a victory after losing three games in a row.
