Abhishek Sharma got out for nine runs in the IND vs ENG semi-final 2.
Indian Cricket Team and England Cricket Team are squaring off in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday, March 5, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The winner of the encounter will book a berth in the final and clash with New Zealand for the title.
England won the toss and opted to field first in the match. They made only one change to their XI, replacing Rehan Ahmed with Jamie Overton.
Since India made no changes to their playing XI, openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opened the batting. Sharma failed to make a mark once again, losing his wicket for just nine runs off seven deliveries.
The left-handed batsman started well with two boundaries but became a victim of spin all-rounder Will Jacks in the second over. While trying to hit a big shot on the final delivery, he was caught by Phil Salt at deep midwicket.
Notably, the Indian opener has struggled to make a mark in T20 World Cup 2026. So far, he has scored just 89 runs in seven games at an average of 12.71 and a strike rate of 130.88.
The left-handed batter scored a half-century against Zimbabwe in the Super 8 round but has failed to cross the 20-run mark in other games. He faced three back-to-back ducks in his first three games of the tournament.

Despite his batting woes, the Indian team has backed him in the XI. However, he came up with another disappointing performance against England.
