India defeated Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20I in Gold Coast.
India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series against Australia as they registered a brilliant win in the fourth game. They beat the hosts by 49 runs at the Carrara Oval in Queensland on Thursday.
After being asked to bat first, India had a fine start to their innings on what was a difficult pitch to bat on. Abhishek Sharma (28) struggled with his timing but still managed a vital contribution. He along with Shubman Gill (46), who was under pressure, added 56 runs for the opening stand.
Shivam Dube (22), who was promoted to three, played a decent hand as well and India were right on the track for a big total. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (20) looked to up the scoring rate but his wicket triggered the Indian collapse.
From 121 for two, India managed just 167 for eight. And this too was also possible because of Axar Patel’s (21*). For Australia, Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa picked three wickets each.

Matthew Short (25) took Australia off to a flying start with the bat, adding 37 runs for the opening stand with Mitchell Marsh (30). But the introduction of Axar Patel and Shivam Dube changed the course of the game as Australia were left tottering at 98 for five.
Their middle-order failed badly as no one apart from the openers went past the 20-run mark. Marcus Stoinis (17) kept the Australian hopes alive but Indian spinners were right on the money in the last five overs. In the end, Australia got all out for 119 as India won the game by 49 runs.
