Jemimah Rodrigues played an unbeaten innings of 127 to take India to the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
India will take on South Africa in the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 as they beat Australia by five wickets in the semi-final on Thursday at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. They scripted history, registering the highest ever chase in the WODIs, chasing the target of 339 runs with nine balls to spare.
Australia had a poor start to their innings as captain Alyssa Healy lost her wicket early. However, after that, Phoebe Litchfield (119) and Ellyse Perry (77) put pressure on India with their dominating batting effort.
Litchfield slammed the fastest hundred in the ICC knockouts in just 77 balls, while Perry looked class apart as the duo added 155 runs for the second wicket. Beth Mooney (24) also chipped in but after that India made a brilliant comeback, reducing Australia to 265 for six in quick succession.
It seemed that India would restrict the champions under 300 but Ashleigh Gardner (63) slammed a valiant half-century. Thanks to her innings, Australia posted 338 for the team inside 50 overs. For India, Shree Charani was the pick of the bowlers with her figures of two for 49.
In the chase, India came under pressure right from the start as Shafali Verma fell for ten in the second over. And soon after that, Smriti Mandhana (24) perished as well and India were left reeling at 59 for two inside powerplay. However, after that, Jemimah Rodrigues (127*) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (89) joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble.

They were all over the opposition as they slammed bowlers all over the park, adding 167 runs for the third wicket. Kaur missed her well-deserved ton by just 11 runs, while Rodrigues smashed a sensational ton.
Deepti Sharma (24) and Richa Ghosh (26) played their part which took India close to the target. But the heroine of the innings was Rodrigues as she played her best innings, taking her team home with five wickets in hand.
