How did fans react to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi missing out on IND vs WI 2nd T20I?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi misses out on India’s playing XI again.

India and West Indies are clashing in the second T20I at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on Friday, October 9. The Men in Blue entered the match after winning the opening game by eight wickets and looked to continue their winning run.

India made no changes to their playing XI for the second T20I. After winning the toss, West Indies captain Shai Hope opted to bowl first, giving India the chance to set a target.

India continued with the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. After winning the first match, the team management decided to stick with the same combination.

However, one decision caught fans’ attention before the match began. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was left out of the playing XI for the second consecutive game, drawing reactions on X (formerly Twitter).

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also missed the first T20I. With the team management sticking to its winning combination, the 15-year-old once again had to wait for his opportunity.

The decision surprised many fans, especially given his recent T20 cricket performances. Under the current team combination, Samson has continued to get opportunities at the top of the order, while Sooryavanshi has remained on the sidelines.

Fans expressed their disappointment on X, with one reaction reading, “Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ko phir se bitha diya yaar.”

Several supporters questioned why the young batter was not given a chance despite his recent form.

Sooryavanshi has produced some strong performances in his recent T20I appearances. He scored two half-centuries in his last five innings during India’s tour of Zimbabwe.

Vaibhav was also named Player of the Series on that tour. He scored 151 runs in three matches at an average of 50.33 and an impressive strike rate of 196.10.

In the semi-final match against Sri Lanka at the Asian Games 2026, Sooryavanshi scored 38 off 21 balls on a difficult pitch. His innings included six fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 180.95.

How many runs has Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored in T20Is?

He has scored 246 runs in eight T20Is with a strike rate of 186.36.
