South Africa Cricket Team stand-in skipper Wiaan Mulder played a magnificent innings with the bat in the ongoing second test against the Zimbabwe Cricket Team. The match between the two teams is taking place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Wiaan Mulder played his best test innings as he came up with a gigantic effort with the bat in the second test against Zimbabwe. After he was given the responsibility to lead the team, he took that role perfectly and led from the front with the bat.
Wiaan Mulder walked out to bat after South Africa lost both the openers early and were under massive pressure. However, the all-rounder oozed his class with the bat and ensured that he put his team in a dominating position in the match.
Mulder hit a blistering triple century, becoming the first ever player to slam a triple ton on test captaincy debut. He also registered the highest test score by a South African batter, surpassing Hashim Amla’s 311* against England at the Oval.
Mulder also became just the seventh player in the history of the game to score 350 runs in an innings in test cricket. The South Africa stand-in test skipper had a great opportunity to score 400-plus runs and break Brian Lara’s record of an unbeaten 400 in an innings.
However, he came up with a massive decision as he declared the South African innings on 626 and left himself stranded at 367*. He was just 34 runs away from history, but decided to declare, a decision not many would have made in cricket.
