Just like Pathan brothers from Vadodara, Pandya brothers have earned the same reputation.

It’s an emotional day for the Pandya brothers in the IPL 2023. After playing alongside for many seasons, the Pandya brothers are now taking on each other as captains. Gujarat Titans are hosting Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. Hardik Pandya is leading Gujarat Titans as full-time captain and his elder brother Krunal Pandya is leading Lucknow Super Giants in KL Rahul’s absence. KL Rahul has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2023 due to a hamstring injury he sustained against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Pandya brothers were emotional during the toss and they greeted each other warmly.

Junior Pandya, Hardik remembers his dad during the toss. Hardik said, “It’s a big emotional day for the family. Our father would have been proud. This is something happening for the first time in our family. They are proud, one Pandya will definitely win”. Challenging his junior brother, Krunal Pandya was also emotional and after winning the toss he said, “It’s a dream come true for us, leading our respective sides, but once we go in the challenge will be on”. This is for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League two brothers are captaining two different teams at the same time.

Before the Pandya duo from Vadodara, another duo was famous from the same city. Vadodara’s Pathan brothers were popular among the fans. Both of them have also played for Team India. Pandyas started their cricket career with Mumbai Indians. After bagging the opportunity they have not looked behind and carried on their good work. Just like the Pathans, the Pandyas have also played for India. Krunal Pandya called the toss correctly and invited his younger brother's team to bat first.
