Big blow for Sri Lanka! Four BIG players face INJURY ahead of India Tests

Sri Lanka are on tour of the West Indies, and then will host India for Test series.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Team are currently in the Carribean, playing the West Indies Cricket Team. The two teams had a comprehensive all-format series, including 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is followed by 2 Test matches.
The hosts won the first Test by a huge margin of an innings and 217 runs. They won the toss and opt to bowl first against the visitors. Sri Lanka were bundled down for 308 in the first innings, with a century by their skipper Dhananjaya de Silva.
When West Indies came out to bat, Amir Jangoo (233) and Roston Chase (194) put up a 400-run partnership, with Amir reaching his double century, while Roston got out after 194. They declared after 626 runs, and then got out Sri Lanka within 101 runs, registering a massive victory.
Their second Test is scheduled to start from July 3, to be played at the same venue. However, there has been a concerning announcement ahead of this fixture.
Sri Lanka face Injury and Illness blows ahead of India Tests

Four key Sri Lankan players have been ruled out from the second Test against West Indies on July 3. These are – Pathum Nissanka, Vishwa Fernando, Ramesh Mendis, and Lahiru Kamara. They are unavailable due to injuries or illnesses.
Among the four of them, only Pathum and Lahiru had featured in the 1st WI vs SL Test. Pathum scored 5 runs across 2 innings, while Lahiru score 21 runs and bowled one over.
Sri Lanka are set to host India for a two-match Test series from August 15. The Tests are a part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. Currently, India are ranked 5th while Sri Lanka are close 6th on the points table.
The schedule for the series was officially announced on July 2. The first match is scheduled for August 15-19 in GICS, Galle; and the second Test will begin on August 23, in SSC, Colombo.
India are kicksarting their Test calendar after an elaborate break from the format. They last played against a full-member nation in November 2025, against South Africa, and would be keen to bounce back from that crushing defeat.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka are known to be a great side in their backyard. They optimise their resources fully and make good use of the conditions. Currently, unofficial Tests are underway between the A sides of the two teams in Galle.
