Rishabh Pant played with a fractured toe in the Manchester test.

Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant came up with a brilliant effort in fourth test of the ongoing series against England. The match between the two teams took place at Old Trafford, Manchester.

One of the heroes for India in the fourth test of the series against England was Pant. The keeper-batter, despite being in pain, came out to bat in the first innings and helped his team get crucial runs on the board, slamming a valiant fifty.

Pant got hit on the toe badly while batting, and then it was revealed that he had sustained a fracture. Not many expected him to bat again in the game. However, he defied all the odds and came out to bat even when it was difficult to walk.

His heroics inspired the entire team, and they put in a brilliant effort with the bat in the second innings. The likes of Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul stood like a wall and drew the game when it seemed impossible.

The foundation of this Test team will be based on what Rishabh you have done – Gautam Gambhir

After the win, Gautam Gambhir addressed the team in the dressing room and was all praises for Rishabh Pant. He admitted that even though he hates talking about individuals but Pant’s act was something that will inspire the next generation. Speaking in a video posted by BCCI, he said:

“The foundation of this Test team will be based on what Rishabh you have done. I hate talking about individuals. I’ve never spoken about individuals in a team sport. You hve not only inspired this dressing room, but you’ve inspired the next generation.

“This is what you’ve done, and that is the legacy which you have created yourself and for everyone in this dressing room. Very, very well done from everyone, and the country will always be proud,” he further added.

The only message I’m gonna give my team is, let’s win it guys – Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant also shared his experience playing with a fractured foot. He said that it was a gesture from his side to put the team forward. He also urged his team to win the next game. He said:

“Just a gesture from my side. Whatever it takes to make our team win or put the team forward, instead of thinking about the personal goal that was all. The only message I’m gonna give my team is, let’s win it guys.”

Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the fifth test against England. In his place, the BCCI has added N Jagadeesan to the squad. Pant ended the series with 479 runs to go with two tons and three fifties.
