'You are grilling me,' Gautam Gambhir's response when asked if he's going to be next India head coach

According to multiple reports Gautam Gambhir is front-runner to become next India head coach.
Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir came up with a cheeky response when he was asked about his potential appointment as the next head coach of the India men’s senior cricket team.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited applications for the post of India head coach in May. Currently, legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid is the head coach of the Men in Blue. However, Dravid has confirmed that he hasn’t re-applied for the coaching role and his term will end after the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Many media reports suggested that 2007 World T20 and 2011 ODI World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir is all set to become the new head coach for the Men in Blue.
A few days ago, Gambhir along with WV Raman were reportedly interviewed for 40 minutes each by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for the next Indian cricket team head coach. The interview was held via Zoom call, and both former cricketers provided satisfactory answers.
It is difficult, you are grilling me: Gautam Gambhir response when asked if he’s going to be next India head coach
Amid all the rumors, Gambhir has finally broken the silence on being considered the next India head coach. The 42-year-old Gambhir added that he doesn’t see that far ahead and remained tight-lipped when he was answering queries regarding the India head coach role.
“I don’t see that far ahead. You are grilling me, asking me all tough questions. It is difficult to answer right now. All I can say is that I’m happy being here, just finished a brilliant journey (and) let’s enjoy that. I’m in a very happy space right now,” Gautam Gambhir said at a ‘Rise To Leadership’ seminar on June 21.
My job as mentor is to make KKR win: Gautam Gambhir on KKR’s success in IPL 2024
The 42-year-old Gambhir made a comeback to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as mentor for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Under his guidance, Kolkata had a fairytale ending in the tournament as they clinched their third IPL title.
Gambhir stressed that his job is not to make any individual players perform, but his role as a mentor with KKR was to make sure they win the IPL trophy.
“But if you start thinking on that, or if you know that you need to help one or two individuals perform, then your team will only suffer.” “My job is not to make individuals perform. My job, as a mentor, is to make KKR win,” said Gambhir.
“For me, the guru mantra is team first philosophy. I think team-first ideology, team-first philosophy is the most important ideology in any team sport,” Gambhir added.
