Rishabh Pant slammed 134 and 118 across two innings in Leeds.

Indian Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir came up with a shocking response when he was asked about Rishabh Pant‘s twin centuries in the first test against the England Cricket Team. The game between the two teams took place at Headingley in Leeds.

Rishabh Pant was one of the shining lights for India with the bat in the first test against England. The keeper-batter oozed his class with the bat in both innings, and it was because of him that India were in a winning position in the match.

Rishabh Pant, who had a terrible time with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, made a rollicking start to the test season. The keeper-batter slammed twin centuries in the game, becoming the first Indian player to achieve the feat in English conditions.

Rishabh Pant slammed 134 runs in the first innings and helped the Indian Cricket Team post a massive total of 471 runs on the board. In the second innings, when the pressure was high, he stepped up once again and hit a blistering 118-run knock to help his team set a target of 371 runs. However, his effort went in vain as Indian went on to lose the game by five wickets

After the game, head coach Gautam Gambhir, who addressed the press conference, was asked if Rishabh Pant’s twin centuries were positive. However, he came up with the shocking response, saying that there were three more centuries.

Here’s how the conversation unfolded:

Reporter: “Your vice captain, Rishabh Pant, scored 2 centuries. Isn’t that a positive?”

Gautam Gambhir: “Your question would have been better had you included the other 3 centurions as well.”

Here’s the video:

Rishbah Pant, with the kind of form that he showed in the first game, will be a key player for his team in the second game as well as the remainder of the series. The next game will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from 2nd July.
