Gautam Gambhir faced a lot of criticism after India lost the test series against South Africa.
In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in ANI, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to retain Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. This comes after there were calls to sack him following his poor show as a coach in tests.
India suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat against South Africa in the recently concluded test series. What was shocking was that the whitewash came at home, where even winning a single session was an uphill task for the visiting teams.
However, since Gautam Gambhir took over as coach, losing tests at home has become the norm. Last year, India faced a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand at home and now the whitewash against South Africa has worsened things.
The two home series losses at home within a span of 12 months have put Gautam Gambhir under massive scanner. Fans and experts have expressed their disappointment and there have also been calls to remove him as the head coach of the team.
Gautam Gambhir will remain Head Coach of India in all three formats – BCCI source

Amid all the talks related to his sacking, a BCCI source confirmed that there is no threat to Gautam Gambhir’s position. Speaking to ANI, he said:
“Gautam Gambhir will remain Head Coach of India in all three formats, no decision is being considered”.
Earlier BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia recently also confirmed that Gautam Gambhir will continue as a coach as BCCI doesn’t take knee-jerk reactions. He said:
“BCCI doesn’t take knee-jerk reactions. We are going on as per our long-term plan. Winning or losing is a part of the game. We don’t make changes every now and then. If any change is required, we will take a call at the end of that particular period.”
Gautam Gambhir will now coach India in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, beginning on 30 November.
