Gautam Gambhir and his support staff has been under scanner after India’s poor performance in last few months.

The Indian Cricket Team has been going through a tough phase over the last few months. After the team lost series in Ireland and England, there have been a lot of changes going on in the side.

The Indian fielding coach and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate left the team just before the Sri Lanka tour. Also, officials held a review meeting to discuss player injuries, poor performances, and more.

With all this going on, the Indian Cricket Team has been jolted with another blow. Team India’s long-serving physiotherapist, Kamlesh Jain, has submitted his resignation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), according to reports in Cricbuzz.

Kamlesh Jain has been part of the Indian side since June 2022. The physiotherapist is currently on a three-month notice period with the board yet to accept his resignation. If BCCI accepts his resignation then the New Zealand tour could be his final assignment.

Kamlesh Jain, as per the reports, decided to step away due to the extensive travel involved with the Indian team. He wants a role which requires less travelling, especially with his children being young. Hence, we might see him taking the role with any IPL team.

In 2022, Jain replaced Nitin Patel, who had moved to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He was appointed by Rahul Dravid, and has also spent time with Kolkata Knight Riders, where during his long association, he was promoted as head physiotherapist in 2020.

His exit from the Indian side comes at a time when India’s medical and support staff including coach Gautam Gambhir have been under massive scrutiny due to injury concerns. Quite a few big players have been out of action for some time now, and there have been calls to sack the medical team.

It remains to be seen if BCCI accepts Jain’s resignation or not. However, if Jain leaves, they would want to add an experienced physiotherapist as Indian players are getting more prone to injuries, especially with continous cricket being played.
