"I have promises to keep" Gautam Gambhir's latest Instagram post goes viral amid Team India head coach rumors

Gautam Gambhir recently was the mentor of the IPL 2024-winning KKR team.

Amid the rumors of his becoming the next India head coach, Gautam Gambhir has shared an Instagram post that has further added fuel to these rumors and reports.

There is a strong feeling among the Indian cricket fraternity that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor would take up the job of the Indian men’s team’s head coach, replacing Rahul Dravid, whose tenure is set to come to an end at the conclusion of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The BCCI reportedly approached Gambhir for the role last month and the 42-year-old is expected to take up the job.

On Sunday, Gambhir made a new Instagram post, the caption of which has hogged the attention of the fans. Gambhir posted a picture of himself with a sliver of a smile on his face.

He captioned it, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep,But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep”

Earlier this month, Gambhir had said that he “would love to coach India” if presented with an opportunity. Last month, after the Indian Premier League 2024 final in Chennai, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was seen with Gambhir at the Chepauk.

Gambhir attended an event in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, where he said “Look, I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians. And more across the globe as well. And when you represent India, how can it get bigger than that?”

According to a recent report in Dainik Jagran, Gambhir has accepted BCCI’s terms and the former opener is set to be unveiled as the new head coach at the end of June.
