Jemimah Rodrigues played a magical innings of 127* in the semi-final of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has promised that he will sing a song with Jemimah Rodrigues if India Women win ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. His comments came after the young batter played a stupendous knock in the semi-final of the tournament against Australia.
In what was an innings of a lifetime, Jemimah Rodrigues took India home in the semi-final, scripting history. After Australia posted a mammoth total of 338, not many gave the home team a chance to win. But in what was unthinkable, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side did that.
India lost both the openers in Shafali Varma (10) and Smriti Mandhana (24) inside the power play. Then after that, Jemimah Rodrigues (127*) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (89) joined hands together and bailed the side out of trouble. They came up with a sensational partnership that put Australia under pressure.
After the captain got out, the onus was on the Jemimah to take the team home. And she did exactly that as she slammed a sensational hundred under pressure and helped India register the highest ever chase in the history of the WODIs.
If India win the World Cup, she and I—if she’s okay with it-will sing a song together – Sunil Gavaskar on Jemimah Rodrigues

Just like the entire nation, Sunil Gavaskar was chuffed to bits. Speaking to Sports Today, he said that he will sing a song with Jemimah Rodrigues. He also highlighted how he did the same during the BCCI awards.
“If India win the World Cup, she and I—if she’s okay with it-will sing a song together. She’ll have her guitar, and I’ll sing along,” Gavaskar said on Sports Today. “We actually did that once at one of the BCCI awards a couple of years back. There was a band playing, and we just decided to join in.
“She was on the guitar, and I sang with my whatever voice I have. But if India win, I would love to do it again-if she is happy to do that, happy to do that with an old man. I am all for it.”
