India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur picked up 2 wickets in the second innings against Australia women’s.

Indian women’s cricket team created history at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and registered their first-ever test victory against the mighty Australian women’s team. India have crushed Australia by 8 wickets in the one-off test match. India also registered one of the biggest wins against the English side just a week ago in the one-off test played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

India women team’s performance has been impressive in tests and they have shown great resilience in a format they were not regular. Test cricket is very rare in women’s cricket with only a handful of matches being played across the globe, mainly between Australia and England. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is also upbeat after India’s win and expects the Indian women’s team to play more test matches.

Hopefully, we’ll get many more Test games in upcoming years.” Harmanpreet was also extremely positive with the kind of crowd support during the two test matches they played this season.

Indian women’s team played test matches after a gap of two years. Before taking on England, they played their last test match against Australia in September 2021. Harmanpreet Kaur credited support staff for the performance the team had in the two test matches. Harmanpreet said, “It’s a reward for all the hard work we have done for so many years. Credit goes to all our support staff.”

Sneh Rana was awarded Player of the Match in the one-off test played against Australia. Sneh Rana also said that these two wins will attract more interest in women’s tests. Sneh Rana said, “The team environment in the last 15 days and the support that we have been receiving, it’s really amazing. Two home Tests and we have won both. I think it will attract a lot of youngsters..”
