Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell played a brilliant cameo in Melbourne derby to win a rain-curtailed game against Melbourne Renegades. Melbourne Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell took his team to the third position in the BBL 2023-24 points table with 8 points in 7 games. This was Melbourne Stars fourth consecutive victory in Big Bash League 2023-24 season.
Glenn Maxwell smashed 2 fours and 3 big sixes in his cameo and led his side to yet another victory. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell is known for playing outrageous shots. The all-rounder played an outrageous ramp shot during his short 15-ball stay at the crease. He also had a magnificent day with the ball and bowled an economical spell of 1/8 in 3 overs.

Glenn Maxwell improvised a ramp shot against Kane Richardson. Maxwell played a ramp over the first slip to get a boundary in the 9th over. Maxwell had just arrived at the crease with Stars still needing 40 more runs to win in 5 overs. Maxwell’s shot put Renegades on the back foot and he comfortably won the game for his team at Melbourne Cricket Stadium.
He was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his magnificent all-round effort. Maxwell said, “To win four in a row means a lot to our fans. Loved watching Thomas Rogers bat. It’s a nice feeling at the moment. We have got a great fan-base. Hopefully, we can continue to perform well.”

Melbourne Stars won the toss against Melbourne Renegades and chose to bowl first. Renegades put 97 runs in 14 overs. The game was curtailed to just 14 overs due to intense rain before the start of play. Stars took only 12 overs to chase down the 98 runs target. Thomas Rogers also played a crucial knock of unbeaten 42 runs in 34 balls with 6 fours.
