This was Glenn Maxwell’s eighth T20 century.
Cricket’s big show, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, lit up the Oakland stadium in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC 2025) as he helped his team, Washington Freedom (WAF), demolish the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in a crunch match.
Glenn Maxwell’s WAF batted first after he had won the toss. However, they were reduced to 92/5 in 11.4 overs with Mitchell Owen scoring 32 in 11 balls, while Andries Gous (12), Mark Chapman (17) and Rachin Ravindra (8), and Jack Edwards (11) were the other wickets to fall.
Glenn Maxwell then struggled a bit, scoring 11 runs in his first 15 balls, but then exploded in the 14th over bowled by Tanveer Sangha. He smashed three consecutive sixes in that over, and the floodgates opened. He also got support from Obus Pienaar, who made 14* in 15 balls, feeding him the strike.

The 36-year-old went into overdrive, reaching his century in a blazing 48 deliveries with 89 runs off just 37 balls. He hit an incredible 106 from 49 balls, including two fours and 13 sixes. Maxwell guided his team to 208/5 after saving them from 68/4 in 7.2 overs. This was his eighth T20 century.
Here’s the video:
Australian pace bowling all-rounders Jack Edwards (3/15) and Owens (3/18) each took three wickets to remove the entire side on just 95, demonstrating LAKR’s lack of batting power in response. Even though LAKR had strong hitters like Alex Hales, Andre Russell, and Rovman Powell, nobody was able to duplicate Maxwell’s performance in the second innings, and they lost badly by 113 runs.
Maxwell passed the 10,500-run milestone in T20 cricket thanks to the knock. In T20s, he has also claimed 178 wickets. The Australian has now achieved a triple crown of 10,500 runs, more than 170 wickets, and five T20 hundreds, making him the first player in history to do so.
Buttler, Rohit, Warner, Finch, and Michael Klinger of Australia have all amassed eight T20 hundreds. The West Indies legend Chris Gayle holds the record for most hundreds in this style, having amassed 22 in 463 games. He is followed by Indian legend Virat Kohli (9), South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw (9), and Pakistan’s Babar Azam (11).
