Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh withdraw names from The Hundred 2023

Australian all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh have pulled out of the upcoming season of 'The Hundred'
London Spirits have suffered a dual setback as two Australian Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh have withdrawn from the upcoming The Hundred event. Cricket Australia doesn’t want to risk any injury and to manage the workload of the players for the big ICC Cricket World Cup have taken this call.
Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh, both were part of the London Spirits in The Hundred tournament. London Spirits will be announcing the replacement of two of their main players soon as they have started looking for foreign players. The Hundred is scheduled to be played in August after the Ashes 2023 is over.
CA cautious about star players
As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, a Cricket Australia spokesperson said, “In discussions with both players it was agreed that with a long campaign ahead including two World Cups, it’s in their best interest to be physically refreshed and at their best for the one-day World Cup and beyond”. CA Spokesperson also informed that as both are coming from injury, they do not want to take a risk before two big events coming in one year. Two World Cups are scheduled to be played within 12 months, India will host the 50 Overs World Cup in October - November, and West Indies and the USA will be hosting T20 World Cup in June 2024.
The Hundred has struggled to gather the momentum to get foreign players interested in the tournament. Wanindu Hasaranga will be missing out from the Hundred as the dates of LPL are clashing with Hundred, Michael Bracewell is out of the tournament due to an injury. Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell both played an important role in Australia’s World T20 campaign in 2021 in Dubai. 8 teams will take part in the Hundred tournament.
