Glenn Phillips took five catches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 concluded on March 9, with India defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling final in Dubai.
The tournament featured several players who showcased individual brilliance, including Rachin Ravindra, Virat Kohli, Ben Duckett, and Varun Chakaravarthy.
While there may be debate over the best batting or bowling performance of the tournament, there was unanimous agreement on the best fielder – Glenn Phillips.
Phillips took a total of five catches throughout the tournament. His catch of Mohammad Rizwan in the opening game played a crucial role in New Zealand’s 60-run victory. He then repeated his heroics against India, pulling off a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Virat Kohli in the final group stage match.
His best and most crucial catch, however, came in the final when he pulled off a one-handed grab to dismiss Shubman Gill to break the 105-run opening stand.
Gill’s dismissal triggered a collapse, reducing India to 122/3 in their 252-run chase. New Zealand couldn’t secure the win, but Phillips’ effort ensured the game went down to the wire.
