Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to lock horns in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League 2026 tonight. The venue of the clash is MYS International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
The winner of the clash will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2026 final on May 31. Gujarat Titans have qualified for the playoffs by finishing second in the points table with 18 points. Out of 14 matches in the league stage, they won nine and lost five.
However, the Shubman Gill & Co. suffered a big defeat against RCB in Qualifier 1. They lost the clash by 92 runs, failing to chase down a mammoth 255-run target. However, GT have another chance to reach the final by winning Qualifier 2.
Rajasthan Royals bagged the fourth spot in the points table to book a berth in the playoffs. They thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator by 47 runs. Now, they need to outplay GT to seal a spot in the final.
Both teams have a strong top-order batting unit but lack depth in the middle-order. GT and RR also clashed twice in the league stage, with each winning one match.
Weather report of New Chandigarh for GT vs RR Qualifier 2
Notably, the GT vs RR encounter in New Chandigarh is expected to be affected by the weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in New Chandigarh during the Qualifier 1 match.
The IMD has warned about a major storm impacting the city between 4 PM and 9 PM. The GT vs RR encounter will commence at 7 PM with the toss.
According to a report by BBC Weather, the chance of rain in New Chandigarh will be 40% at 6:30 pm and remain 40% till 11:30 pm.
The temperature will be 33° Celcius in the afternoon but drop to 28° Celcius at night. The sky will be cloudy in the evening.
