Gujarat Giants full squad after WPL 2025 auction
Gujarat Giants signed four players during the WPL 2025 auction.
Gujarat Giants (GG) were the busiest team at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction. Having offloaded several big names including Sneh Rana, the Gujarat franchise made strategic moves to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
Gujarat secured a total of four players at the WPL 2025 mega auction, including legendary West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin. Dottin was picked by the franchise for the inaugural season, but missed the competition due to not getting medical clearance.
GG made the most expensive acquisition of the event by spending INR 1.90 crores to rope in Mumbai-born Simran Shaikh. Shaikh grabbed headlines by piling up runs in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, scoring 176 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of over 100.
In addition to Dottin and Shaikh, the franchise also added the experienced English pace-bowling all-rounder Danielle Gibson for her base price of INR 30 lakhs. Gibson is a versatile player capable of power-hitting during the latter part of the innings. Her addition will bring depth to GG’s batting.
Michael Klinger, Giants’ head coach, highlighted the need to add power to their batting line-up as the reason for their two biggest picks on the auction day. The franchise also bought Mumbai leg spinner Prakashika Naik at her base price of INR 10 lakhs.
Gujarat Giants players retained before the auction:
Asheligh Gardner, Kashvee Gautam, Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield, Tanuja Kanwar, Harleen Deol, Dayalan Hemalatha, Laura Wolvaardt, Meghna Singh, Priya Mishra, Shabnam Shakil, Mannat Kashyap, Sayali Satghare, Bharti Fulmali.
