Gujarat Titans played their first IPL final in the 2022 edition.
Gujarat Titans (GT) became a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the 2022 edition, when the tournament was expanded to 10 teams. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were the second team added to the league.
The GT franchise picked Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, and Rashid Khan as their three marquee players. In the IPL 2022 mega auction, they formed a strong squad under captain Pandya.
Gujarat turned out to be the most dominant team in that season, finishing at the top spot in the points table with 10 victories out of 14. They defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final to steal the trophy, winning the title in their maiden season itself.
Hardik Pandya & Co. followed up their impeccable performance in the 2022 season. However, this time, they lost the final to Chennai Super Kings and ended as runners-up.
Ahead of IPL 2026, Pandya parted ways with the franchise and returned to his former team Mumbai Indians. Later, GT appointed Shubman Gill as the new captain.
GT failed to make a mark in the 2024 season and could not qualify for the playoffs. However, they bounced back by reaching the playoffs in the 2025 and 2026 editions. Hence, Gujarat have made it to the playoffs in four seasons out of five.
