Gurnoor Brar took two wickets in the first ENG vs IND ODI at Edgbaston.

Indian Cricket Team are locking horns with England in the 1st ODI of the three-match series. The series opener between the teams is taking place at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 14.

The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first in the encounter. India went in with the combination of three pacers and three all-rounders, including two spinners Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnoor Brar were picked as frontline pacers along with seam all-rounder Shivam Dube. Brar, who made his ODI debut in the previous series against Afghanistan last month, was preferred over Arshdeep Singh.

Brar had a decent outing with the ball even though he gave 61 runs in his nine overs at an economy of 6.80. He provided India with crucial breakthroughs, dismissing both England openers, Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. Brar could not complete his 10-over spell, as he sustained an injury scare in the death overs.

It looked like a cramp, and the team physio arrived on the field to check on him. Eventually, Brar walked off the field. After he left, Gill turned up to Axar Patel to bowl the over.

Speaking about the match, England got all out for 258 in 47.5 overs. The visitors gave them a big blow at the start, dismissing five wickets for 80 runs within 17 overs.

At one stage, England reeled at 107/6 but a crucial half-centuries by Joe Root (76*) and spin all-rounder Liam Dawson (68) helped them make a comeback. For India, Gurnoor and Prasidh clinched two wickets each, while Bumrah and Dube bagged one wicket. Axar rocked with his magical spin and hunted a four-wicket haul.
