Hanuma Vihari had stepped down as Andhra’s captain in the middle of the Ranji Trophy 2023/24 season due to alleged political interference.
30-year-old Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari can now play for another domestic team after being given the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). Vihari is set to leave his home state team and represent a new domestic side in the 2024/25 domestic season.
After announcing in February that he has decided to “never play for Andhra” again, and confirming that he had asked for the NOC from the ACA in March, Vihari was granted the NOC by his state board on 4th June. The cricketer who has represented India in 16 test matches, posted the NOC letter on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Vihari was asked to step down as Andhra’s captain in the middle of the Ranji Trophy 2023/24 season because he had shouted at one of the extras who turned out to be the son of a politician. Vihari alleged that the politician pressurized the ACA to take “action,” and the board told him to resign.
He said he felt “humiliated and embarrassed” after being told to resign. Vihari made all these revelations in an Instagram post in February, after the end of the season. He vowed not to play for Andhra again and asked for an NOC to allow him to play for another team.

Hanuma Vihari’s NOC was not issued in the last three months. However, it seems that the change of the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh in the latest election meant the board was not under the influence of the same politician as mentioned above. So they promptly handed Vihari his requested NOC.
The right-handed batter posted his NOC on Twitter.
He wrote, “I have been asking for NOC from 2 months, mailed them 4 times. Didn’t give my NOC. Now that things have turned, they’ve issued my NOC immediately.“
