Sarfaraz Khan was dropped from India’s test squad for the five-match tour of England.

Led by Shubman Gill, the Indian Cricket Team are set to collide with England in a five-match test series. India’s tour of England 2025 will begin with the first test at Headingley on June 20, and both sides are gearing up for the exciting clash.

Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan could not find a place in the India squad for the England test series. The right-handed batsman made his test debut last year and was part of the team during the home series against England, Bangladesh and New Zealand. He was also included in the squad for Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Down Under, but couldn’t find a place in the playing XI.

Notably, Indian selectors went ahead with batters like Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan and overlooked Khan for the England test series. The 27-year-old was part of the India A squad for the unofficial test series against England Lions recently and also slammed a brilliant 92-run knock in the first game.

Harbhajan Singh suggests Sarfaraz Khan to learn from Karun Nair

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was shocked to know about Sarfaraz’s snub from the England test series. While speaking to PTI, Singh advised Khan not to be disheartened and to learn from Karun Nair’s example.

“It’s very unfortunate… I was a bit shocked not seeing his name in the squad. I’m sure he will come back strong. He has got that will to make a comeback. All I can say is, don’t be disheartened, you will get your due, if not today, then tomorrow,” the 44-year-old said.

“Look at Karun Nair. He scored 300 runs against England and then never got too many opportunities. Now he is back in England with the team,” the cricketer-turned-commentator further added.

Notably, Nair made his test comeback after seven years on the back of his consistent performance in domestic cricket. The right-handed batsman last played for India in March 2017 and also owns a test triple hundred in his kitty.

Meanwhile, Khan played six test matches for India last year, hitting 371 runs in 11 innings at an average of 37.10. The middle-order batter also slammed three half-centuries and one century – a 150-run knock against New Zealand in Bengaluru in October 2024.
