"Two more years.." Harbhajan Singh predicts international future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Harbhajan Singh feels that given Kohli’s fitness, he could play international cricket for another five years.

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that while Virat Kohli can play for India for five more years, while Rohit Sharma has only a couple of years of top-level cricket left in him.

Both Rohit and Kohli retired from T20Is after lifting the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in Barbados. Their decision to retire from the shortest international format means that they would be fresher to play the other two formats.

However, it also triggered a thought among the fans and experts about how long will the duo continue to play and excel in international cricket, considering Kohli is 35 years old and Rohit is 37.

Kohli is probably the fittest guy in the team: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan hailed Kohli as “probably the fittest guy” in the Indian team. He opined that Kohli can play for much longer than Rohit given the difference in their fitness and age.

“Rohit can easily play for two more years. You never know with Virat Kohli’s fitness, you can see him competing for five years. He is probably the fittest guy in the team. You ask any 19-year-old competing with Virat. Virat will beat him. He is that fit,” Harbhajan told PTI in an exclusive interview.

Harbhajan added that as long as the two stars are fit and contributing to the team, they should play for India.

“I believe Virat and Rohit have a lot of cricket left in them, and it is entirely up to them. If they are fit enough, they are performing, and the team is winning, they should continue to play. As simple as that,” he added.

Both were recently part of the ODI series in Sri Lanka, which India lost. Their next assignment is the home test series against Bangladesh.
