The three-match ODI series is scheduled to start on September 27, as India starts preparing for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Reportedly, there is uncertainty over Hardik Pandya’s selection in India’s ODI squad because he is still not capable of bowling more than six overs in a match. Abhishek Tripathi from Jagran News has reported this latest development.
The concern is particularly relevant in ODI cricket, where teams generally require their frontline all-rounders to provide a substantial number of overs with the ball. Pandya, who is making a comeback following his latest leg niggle ahead of the Afghanistan series, is still managing his workload.
Recent reports have suggested that Pandya is expected to return to competitive white-ball cricket around September 20; however, nothing has been officially confirmed by the BCCI. However, he has been named in India A’s squad for the one-day games against Australia A, which are scheduled to start on 6th October.
Ajit Agarkar could take tough decisions before leaving
According to the same report by Abhishek Tripathi, Agarkar could be preparing for some difficult selection calls before potentially leaving his position as the chairman of the Indian Men’s selection committee.
His contract extension has reportedly not yet been confirmed by the BCCI, which implies that the upcoming West Indies squad selection could assume additional significance as it could be the last squad he selects as the chairman. The committee will have to assess the workload of many players while also facing a massive challenge in the form of the Asian Games.
The schedule for the Asian Games clashes with the ODI leg of the India vs West Indies home series. If India qualify for the gold medal match in the Asian Games, then two Indian teams will be in action at the same time in two different parts of the world.
