Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah played a key role for India in their 3-1 T20I series win over South Africa.

Indian Cricket Team beat South Africa in the final T20I by 30 runs in Ahmedabad to wrap up the T20I series with 3-1 margin. Jasprit Bumrah played a key role with the ball taking 2/17 from his four overs. Hardik Pandya, on the other hand scored 63 off just 25 balls and also took a wicket.

Times of India (TOI) has reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not be making too many changes in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. According to the newspaper, the board may rest both Bumrah and Hardik Pandya for the ODI series against New Zealand.

The Men in Blue will be playing three ODI matches followed by five T20I games against the visiting Kiwi side. It is to be noted that Bumrah’s last ODI was the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia, two years ago.

The biggest challenge for Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir will be their defence of T20 World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah, will be a key figure for India considering his experience in this format of the game and value he brings to the team.

Hardik Pandya, made his long awaited comeback to the side with a bang. The 32-year-old scored 142 from four games with an average of 71 and also took three wickets. Indian all-rounder as per reports carried by TOI scribe Sahil Mahotra will be aiming to play Vijay Hazare Trophy for Baroda to keep himself match fit.

Rinku Singh and Washington Sundar’s future decided?

According TOI’s Sahil Malhotra, BCCI are keen to go in to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with more or less the same squad. The board, wants to go into the marquee event with the same set of players who have been in the set-up for the last few series.

Rinku Singh’s future is up for debate considering he hasn’t gotten much game time. If the selectors are set on sticking with the same players then the 28-year-old may find it difficult to get a look-in. Washington Sundar, as per those same reports carried by TOI is set to keep his place in the side for the showpiece event.
