Hardik Pandya became joint No. 1 ranked ICC T20I all-rounder after T20 World Cup 2024.
Indian cricket team vice-captain Hardik Pandya has accepted that he went through lots of ups and downs over the past few months during his recent interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on July 4.
After winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 in Barbados, the Rohit Sharma-led India finally touched down at the New Delhi airport on July 4 around 6:00 AM.
After that, the Men in Blue went to meet PM Modi at his official residence later that day before heading to Mumbai for victory parade and felicitation ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, all-rounder Pandya was traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians (MI) in an-cash trade deal. However, the biggest controversy erupted ahead of the 2024 edition when Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma as the new captain of the Mumbai-based franchise for the 2024 season.
During the IPL 2024, Hardik was brutally trolled and faced heavy criticism from Mumbai Indians fans and also faced backlash on his social media handles. During MI’s home games, Hardik was booed by the Wankhede crowd and they trolled him throughout the 2024 season.
However, the star Indian cricketer remained tight-lipped for almost six months and gave a tight slap to all his haters by performing brilliantly for the national side in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Hardik was one of the main heroes for the Men in Blue, who helped India defeat South Africa by seven runs in the grand finale of the T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik had match figures of 3/20 in the final with key wickets from Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, and Kagiso Rabada.
Hardik had a memorable T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, as he ended with 144 runs and 11 wickets to his name. Recently, Hardik became joint No. 1 ranked all-rounder in the latest ICC T20I rankings.
During the interaction with Prime Minister Modi at his residence on July 4, Hardik opened up on how he felt in the last six months.
The No. 1 all-rounder Hardik expressed that he wanted to give his haters a fitting answer with his performances, and for this, he worked hard and stayed strong throughout the tough phase of his life.
“Last 6 months have been very entertaining for me, there have been a lot of ups and downs and the public booed me. A lot of things happened and I always felt that if I give any answer, it would be through sports… So I believed that I would stay strong, will work hard,” Pandya told Modi during the latter’s discussion with the entire squad.
