Hardik Pandya is recovering from back spasm, which he suffered in ongoing IPL 2026.

Speculation surrounding Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya has intensified during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, following multiple reports regarding uncertainty around his future with the franchise.

Mumbai Indians have already been eliminated from the IPL 2026 playoff race after an inconsistent campaign, affected by injuries and poor results. Pandya himself missed multiple matches this season due to a back spasm, while several senior players were unavailable at different stages of the tournament.

The franchise has remained under constant scrutiny ever since Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as captain ahead of IPL 2024 following his high-profile trade from Gujarat Titans. The decision had generated significant reaction among fans and cricket experts.

According to journalist Rohit Juglan of Revsportz, a major development could emerge during the upcoming IPL trade window involving a high-profie player. A post shared by the media outlet’s journalist on X stated that “two calls have already been made to a franchise in south and one in north” and added that the potential move could become the “biggest” trade-window story.

While the post did not directly mention Hardik Pandya by name, the update has triggered widespread speculation on social media regarding MI and the India all-rounder’s future with the franchise.

As of now, neither Mumbai Indians nor Hardik Pandya have issued any official statement regarding a possible trade or exit ahead of IPL 2027.

Pandya, in mid night of May 12, surprised fans when he posted videos of him practicing in the nets. The all-rounder used the eagle emoji, which is sign of independence, authority, and the strength. While, MI has maintained that he is injured, the all-rounder sent a clear message that he is fit and raring to go.

Pandya’s return to MI before IPL 2024 was one of the biggest player moves in IPL history. Mumbai acquired the all-rounder from Gujarat Titans and immediately named him captain, replacing Rohit Sharma after more than a decade in charge.

However, the transition has not delivered the expected results so far. Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2024 and failed to qualify for the playoffs again in IPL 2026. Hardik also dealt with fitness concerns during the current season. The all-rounder missed several matches due to injury issues, creating further uncertainty around Mumbai’s campaign and leadership structure.

Is Hardik Pandya leaving Mumbai Indians?

As of now, there is no official confirmation that Hardik Pandya is leaving Mumbai Indians.

Why is Hardik Pandya’s future at Mumbai Indians being discussed?

Speculation has increased because of Mumbai Indians’ poor performances over the last three IPL seasons.
