Harry Brook made 481 runs in the series in nine innings, with two hundreds to his name.
England batter Harry Brook has opened up on being named as England’s Player of the Series in the recent five-match test series against India. He was chosen by Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, overlooking the likes of Joe Root and Ben Stokes.
Shubman Gill and Ben Stokes shared the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 after a well-earned 2-2 draw between India and England.
Although it appeared to some that the English batters earned the victory at The Oval, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna were responsible for turning the tide. At the Lord’s, however, a similar scenario happened with India
India and England achieved the level of dominance that either team has displayed in the series, thanks to a number of outstanding performances. The Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards are given out to recognise the performances.
Joe Root should’ve been – Harry Brook makes jokes about Gautam Gambhir choosing him as Player of the Series

Gautam Gambhir, the Indian head coach, was tasked with the vital responsibility of selecting the English team’s Player of the Series. But everyone was taken aback by the former Indian batter’s selection.
He didn’t select players like Joe Root, the England run engine in the series and the main batsman who led India to defeat at the Lord’s, or England captain Ben Stokes, who has been a continual threat to the Indian team.
Harry Brook was selected as the English camp’s Player of the Series by the Indian coach instead. Brook expressed his confusion over the decision, admitting that he didn’t think he should have received the trophy because Root had scored so many more runs for England.
“I didn’t score as many runs as Rooty. I probably think he should be the Man of the series; he is the man of the summer, again, like he has been for many years,” Brook told BBC.
Harry Brook, a middle-order batsman for England, has become one of the game’s most promising players. He has frequently achieved significant success thanks to his deliberate batting and bold ball striking.
However, he performed admirably, scoring two hundreds and amassing 481 runs in nine innings, which was the second-highest total for England and the fifth-highest in the series.
