England chased the target by eight wickets and inside 16 overs, with crucial knocks by Jason Roy (49), Dawid Malan (24), and Jonny Bairstow (26*).

England also hold the record for the fourth-highest successful chase at this venue, which was registered in the third T20I of the five-match series against India in March 2021. This time, the Virat Kohli & Co. posted 156/6 in the first innings, with a stunning 77-run knock by the captain.

In the T20 World Cup 2026, South Africa broke India’s record for the highest successful chase at Narendra Modi Stadium in T20I cricket. In the Super Eight Round, the Aiden Markram & Co. chased down a 177-run target against West Indies.
After suffering a top and middle-order collapse, West Indies posted a respectable 176/8 on the board with magnificent batting shows by Jason Holder (49) and Romario Shepherd (52*).
In the chase, Proteas openers Markram and Quinton de Kock etched a stand of 95 runs, setting the platform for the team’s victory. They reached the target in just 16.1 overs with nine wickets in hands, recording one of the finest wins in the tournament.

However, their efforts went in vain as South Africa batters smashed the New Zealand bowlers all over the park. Captain Markram led from the front with his unbeaten 86 runs, driving the team to victory by seven wickets.
