Only one Bangladesh batsman has hit a century in men’s T20I cricket.

The Bangladesh cricket team made their T20I debut in 2006. Their progress in T20I cricket has been slow compared to the other two formats. They have managed very few moments to remember in the shortest format.

Only one Bangladeshi batsman has hit a century in men’s T20I cricket so far, despite the team playing the format from last 18 years. In their history of T20I cricket, only a few batsmen have managed to create a legacy; only two batsmen have scored more than 2000 runs in this format.

On that note, let’s take a look at the top five highest scores made by Bangladeshi batsmen in T20Is.

Top five highest individual scores by Bangladesh batsmen in T20I cricket:

5. Liton Das – 83 vs Ireland, 2023

Wicket-keeper opener Liton Das recorded his highest T20I score of 83 runs off 41 balls against Ireland in a T20I in Chattogram in 2023. Batting first, Das cracked 10 fours and three sixes to take his side’s total to 202.

In reply, Ireland managed only 125 runs as Shakib Al Hasan took a five-wicket haul.

4. Tamim Iqbal – 83* vs Netherlands, 2016

Opener Tamil Iqbal was in great touch during the 2016 T20 World Cup in India. On a spicy pitch in Dharamsala, against the Netherlands, Iqbal scored 83 unbeaten runs off 58 balls, with the help of six fours and three sixes.

Iqbal’s knock helped his side reach a competitive total of 153 runs, which proved eight runs more than what the Netherlands managed. Iqbal bagged the Man of the Match award.

3. Shakib Al Hasan – 84 vs Pakistan, 2012

During the ICC T20 World Cup 2012 encounter between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Pallekele, Shakib Al Hasan scored 84 runs off 54 balls with help of 11 fours and a couple of maximums. No other Bangladeshi batsman scored over 25 runs as the side reached 175/6.

However, his knock went in vain as Imran Nazir hammered 72 runs off 36 balls and took Pakistan to an eight-wicket win.

2. Tamim Iqbal – 88* vs West Indies, 2012

In a T20I in Mirpur in 2012 between Bangladesh and West Indies, opener Tamim Iqbal waged a lone battle in the chase of 198. The left-hander scored 88* off 51 balls, creaming 10 fours and two sixes.

However, Bangladesh still lost the match by 18 runs. West Indies had posted 197 courtesy of Marlon Samuels’ 85* (43).

1. Tamim Iqbal – 103* vs Oman, 2016

Former opener Tamim Iqbal holds the record for the highest T20I score by a Bangladesh batsman. He scored 103* against Oman in Dharamsala during the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Iqbal walloped 10 fours and five sixes in his knock of 103* off 63 balls that took his side’s total to 180. Because of rain’s intervention, Oman were given a DLS target of 120 runs in 12 overs, of which they fell short by 55 runs.
