Top 10 highest individual scores in IPL

Only twice 150+ has been scored by batsmen in the IPL.
Over the years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen some amazing individual performances, with batters pushing the boundaries of high-scoring innings. These incredible achievements, which have included record-breaking knocks and blazing hundreds, have enthralled cricket fans and raised the bar for T20 cricket.
In addition to displaying skill and poise, these outstanding innings produced thrilling moments that completely changed the course of games. These performances are ingrained in the IPL’s history as emblems of unmatched batting prowess, whether it be through massive sixes or accurate timing. They continue to astonish both cricket fans and aspiring players, turning the IPL into a venue for significant personal achievements.
The top 10 highest individual scores in the IPL history capture the sheer brilliance and dominance of players who have lit up stadiums.
Here are the top 10 highest individual scores in IPL:
10. Rishabh Pant – 128*

Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) took on Sunrisers Hyderabad in match No. 42 of IPL 2018 in Delhi, and DD captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bat. The DD innings of 187/5 was punctuated with Rishabh Pant’s glorious 128* in just 63 balls. He hit 15 fours and seven huge sixes in his knock.
His knock was the only significant one, as the next best score was Harshal Patel’s 24, and the top three only scored 23 runs between them. Rishabh Pant was only 21 years old, and this was the first glimpse of his brilliance with the bat.
9. Chris Gayle – 128*
Chris Gayle has the second most centuries in all IPL – 6, and one of those knocks was the 128* that came for Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) against Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2012 in Delhi. Delhi captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and chose to bowl first. And Chris Gayle teed off from the go.
He hammered 128* with seven fours and 13 sixes, in just 62 balls. Virat Kohli assisted well with 73* in 53 balls as RCB posted 215/1 in 20 overs. Delhi, in reply, managed 194/9 and lost by 21 runs. Chris Gayle bossed the relatively small Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, and Pawan Negi was smashed for four sixes, while opening pacers both got hit for three sixes each.
8. Shubman Gill – 129
IPL 2023 belonged to Shubman Gill, as he bossed the tournament with 890 runs in 16 games. He almost took the Gujarat Titans to their second consecutive title. He hit three centuries in the tournament, and this was his highest score. He scored 129 against the Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad.
His knock had 10 sixes and seven fours in 60 balls, taking GT to 233/3, with Sai Sudharsan making 63. Shubman Gill made merry on the batting-friendly Ahmedabad pitch as MI bowlers looked for answers as he smacked them at his will.
7. AB de Villiers – 129*

AB de Villiers remains one of the legends of the IPL, and he features twice in this list. His first appearance is thanks to his 129* in IPL 2016 for RCB against the now-defunct Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru. This match was absolute carnage for the Gujarat bowlers, and both AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli hammered unbeaten centuries.
AB de Villiers faced 52 balls for his 129* and hammered 12 sixes and 10 fours in a display of brutal hitting and innovation. He added 229 runs with Virat Kohli (109) and remained unbeaten to take RCB to 248/2. In reply, Gujarat were bowled out for 104 runs, and RCB won by 144 runs.
6. KL Rahul – 132*
KL Rahul had an amazing two seasons as the Punjab-based franchise captain. He scored a bucket of runs at will, and one of those knocks was his highest IPL score of 132*. This came against RCB in IPL 2020 in Dubai. Asked to bat first, Punjab were led by their captain, Rahul, who hit 14 fours and seven sixes in his 132* at a strike rate of 191.30.
He ruled the Dubai stadium, hitting precision fours and towering sixes. KL Rahul’s 132* remained the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL until Abhishek Sharma broke it in IPL 2025.
5. AB de Villiers – 133*
The ‘alien’ AB de Villiers features for the second time on this list and again for the RCB franchise. His 133* came in IPL 2015 when the RCB faced Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After losing Chris Gayle for 13 runs. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers added 215 runs, unbeaten for the second wicket, taking RCB to 235/1.
While Virat Kohli made 82 with six fours and four sixes, AB de Villiers showcased his brilliance with the bat, scoring 133*. He hit 19 fours and four sixes in a brutal batting display in Mumbai. Surprisingly, Jasprit Bumrah had gone for 52 runs in his quota of four overs without a wicket.
4. Quinton de Kock – 140*
South African powerhouse Quinton de Kock features in this list as well. This was an IPL 2022 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first, and he played a handsome knock of 68* with three fours and four sixes.
But the carnage came from Quinton De Kock, who hammered 140* with 10 fours and 10 sixes in 70 balls. He spared no bowler from the KKR side and inflicted pain on the opposition equally. However, KKR made a good comeback in the chase, and Rinku Singh scored 40 in 15 balls to take KKR to 208/8, but they lost the game by two runs.
3. Abhishek Sharma – 141

Abhishek Sharma usurped the record for the highest individual score in IPL by an Indian from KL Rahul, as he rewrote history while playing for SRH against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. The specialty about his knock was that it came in a chase of 245 runs after Shreyas Iyer’s brilliant knock had helped PBKS post that total.
However, Travis Head (66) and Abhishek Sharma hammered the PBKS bowlers from the start, adding 171 runs for the first wicket. Abhishek Sharma scored an eye-watering 141 runs in just 55 balls. He hammered 14 fours and 10 sixes in his knock as PBKS fielders only watched the ball sail over them helplessly.
2. Brendon McCullum – 158*
The knock that brought IPL instant fame was Brendon McCullum’s 158* for KKR against RCB in the inaugural match of the first-ever IPL in 2008. The stage was set and the hype was created for the IPL by the BCCI, and they only needed something that could put the focus on the league.
Brendon McCullum’s knock did just that. Opting to bat first in Bengaluru, McCullum hammered 158* off 73 balls with 10 fours and 13 sixes. This was the first-ever 150-plus score in T20 cricket and in the IPL. It helped KKR make 222/3, and then RCB were bowled out for 82 runs, giving the visitors a win by 140 runs. This was the start the IPL needed to make an impact, and Brendon McCullum did just that.
1. Chris Gayle – 175*

The most famous T20 knock of all time remains Chris Gayle’s massacre of the Pune Warriors for RCB in IPL 2013. Pune won the toss and chose to put RCB into bat and then watched Chris Gayle create history.
Gayle hammered 175* in 66 balls with 13 fours and 17 monstrous sixes in his stay. He was set for a double hundred, only to tire at the end. RCB posted 263/5, the then highest total in the IPL, and easily won the match. Chris Gayle became an IPL and T20 legend with this knock, which remains the highest IPL and T20 individual score to this day.
