Top 5 highest scores by Hardik Pandya in T20I cricket
Hardik Pandya played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Hardik Pandya has established himself as one of India’s finest all-rounders in white-ball cricket. The Baroda-born cricketer has featured in over 80 ODIs and 100 T20Is.
Pandya made his India debut in January 2016, after a breakthrough Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 season, where he helped Mumbai Indians clinch the title.
He quickly became the first-choice player in the T20I side. Only Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have played more T20Is than Pandya, which is a testament to his quality and consistency in winning games in the shortest format.
He has regularly played cameos while batting mostly in the lower-middle-order. In this article, we will look at Hardik’s five highest T20I scores.
Top five highest scores by Hardik Pandya in T20I cricket:
5. 46 vs South Africa, 2022
In the Rajkot T20I between India and South Africa in 2022, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik gave India a terrific finish with their partnership of 65 (33) after India were at 81/4 at a stage. Pandya cracked 46 (31) and Karthik hammered 55 (27) to take the eventual total of 169.
In reply, South Africa were bowled out for only 87 runs as Avesh Khan took a four-wicket haul.
4. 50* vs Bangladesh, 2024
Pandya’s highest score in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was 50* off 27 balls against Bangladesh in their Super Eight encounter in Antigua in 2024.
Batting at number six, Hardik propelled India’s score from 108/4 to 196 by slamming four fours and three sixes. India won the match comfortably by 50 runs.
3. 51 vs England, 2022
This was Hardik Pandya’s dream T20I as he starred with both bat and ball. In a T20I in Southampton against hosts England in 2022, Hardik first tore into the hosts’ bowling attack by whacking 51 (33), helping India to 198.
Then with the ball, he dismantled the English batting line-up by taking four wickets, including those of Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy. Hardik was the showstopper that day as India won by 50 runs.
2. 63 vs England, 2022
Hardik produced another thrilling innings against England, this time with much higher stakes in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide.
While other Indian batters, including Virat Kohli, were tied down by the English bowlers, Pandya scathed through them. With the help of four fours and five sixes, Pandya blasted 63 runs off 33 balls at a strike rate of 190, while none of the top four Indian batters managed a strike rate of over 140.
Although Hardik managed to take India to 168, the total was proven to be far from enough as England won by 10 wickets.
1. 71* vs Australia, 2022
Hardik Pandya’s highest score in T20Is is 71*, which he made against Australia in Mohali in 2022. Batting first, India set up a platform for Hardik with KL Rahul’s fifty and Suryakumar Yadav’s 46.
Pandya capitalised on the good batting conditions and cracked 71 unbeaten runs off 30 balls. Pandya pumped seven fours and five sixes in his innings to take India to 208.
However, his knock went in vain as Cameron Green smashed 61 (30) and then Matthew Wade hit 45* (21) to take Australia to a four-wicket win with four balls to spare.
