Ranji Trophy is India’s oldest red-ball cricket tournament, which is actually the base of Indian cricket. Every cricketer who plays for India, has performed in this tournament.
Over the years, some big targets have been achieved in this tournament. This article will feature the top five targets achieved in the history of Ranji Trophy. Notably, only a few times teams have chased a target of 350 or more and which will talk about all those here.

5. UP (359/4) vs Maharashtra, Ranji Trophy 2021/22
The fifth-highest total was chased by Uttar Pradesh (UP) during the Ranji Trophy 2021–22. It came in a group match against Maharastra in Sultanpur. Maharastra made 462 and 211/d in two innings. UP, who scored 317 runs in the first innings, had a target of 357 runs to chase. And they did it in style. Almas Shaukat (100) and skipper Karan Sharma (116) scored centuries, and Rinku Singh played a cameo of 78* off 60 to take UP to 359/4 in 70.1 overs to win the game.
4. Rajasthan (360/4) vs Vidarbha, Ranji Trophy 1989/90
Rajasthan have the fourth-highest Ranji Trophy chase to their name. It came back in 1989/90 in a game against Vidarbha. Batting first, Vidarbha got all out for 250 runs, Rajasthan only managed 163 runs, and Vidarbha had a lead of 87 runs. In the second innings, Vidarbha scored another 272 runs to set a target of 360 runs. But this time, Rajasthan showed a better performance. Deepak Jain scored an unbeaten 167, Padam Shastri made 79 not out and Rajasthan reached 360/4 to win the game.
3. Assam (371/4) vs Services, Ranji Trophy 2008/09
Assam hold the record for the third-highest chase in the Ranji Trophy history. They did it in the 2008 edition against Services in Delhi. Batting first, Services made 244 and 304/9d in two innings of the game. Assam, who got bowled out for 178 runs and conceded a lead of 66 runs, had a target of 371 to chase. Chasing the target, skipper Rashmi Parida scored 136 off 160. Tajinder Singh (80) and Jacod Martin (80*) also played good innings and Assam reached 371/4 in 78.4 overs to win the game.
2. Saurashtra (372/5) vs UP, Ranji Trophy 2018/19
Saurashtra chased down the second-highest target during quarter-final of the Ranji Trophy 2018/19. They did it against UP in Lucknow. UP made 385 runs in the first innings and restricted Saurashtra to 208 runs to take a lead of 177 runs. But they had a poor display in the second innings and got all out for 194 runs. Saurashtra had a target of 372 runs to win, and they made 372/4 in 115.1 overs. Harvik Desai scored 116 at the top. Cheteshwar Pujara (67) and Sheldon Jackson (73) scored unbeaten fifties, and Saurashtra made 372/4 to win the game.
1. Railways (378/5) vs Tripura, Ranji Trophy 2023/24
The highest chase in the Ranji Trophy came most recently in the 2023–24 season during a group match between Railways and Tripura in Agartala. In the first innings, Tripura made 149, but they bowled out Railways for 105 runs to take a 44-run lead. Tripura batted well in the second innings and made 333 to set a target of 378 runs. But the Railways had a better batting performance this time around. Pratham Singh (169*) and Mohammad Saif (106) scored centuries, and Railways reached 378/5 in 103 overs to script history in the Ranji Trophy history.
