In 2025, many records were set and broken.

2025 was an exciting year for the sport of cricket, during which many teams and players achieved remarkable records. While some teams and players grabbed historic feats for the first time in history, others enjoyed success after a long time.

At the domestic level too, some teams won titles for the first time in franchise T20 leagues, List A cricket, and first-class cricket, ending their long wait to earn the tag of champions. Moreover, some well-known players as well as youngsters earned the spotlight by breaking rare records.

On that note, below is a list of historic feats achieved by various teams and cricketers in 2025.

List of historic records achieved by teams in 2025-

• For the first time, India Women won an ICC title. They crushed South Africa Women by 52 runs in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final.
• After 27 years, South Africa won an ICC trophy. They won the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final against Australia.
• India and Pakistan clashed in the Asia Cup final for the first time. The Men in Blue defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final.
• India lost a test match by a 400-plus margin for the first time. They lost 2nd test against South Africa in Guwahati by 408 runs.
• India won a test match in Birmingham for the first time, crushing England by 336 runs in the second test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
• India Women piled up a 400-plus total for the first time in ODIs. They scored 435/5 in a clash against Ireland Women in January 2025.
• India scored 1000 runs in a test match for the first time. (587 & 427/6 vs England in 2nd test in Birmingham)
• After 25 years, South Africa won a Test series in India. They won the two-match series 2-0 in November.
• After 18 years, South Africa won a test match in Pakistan. They won the 2nd test by eight wickets in Rawalpindi in October.
• South Africa won an away ODI series in England after 27 years. Proteas won the three-match series 2-1 in September.
• England won a test match in Australia after 14 years. They won the fourth test of The Ashes 2025-26 in Melbourne.
• West Indies won an ODI series against Pakistan after 34 years, crushing them 2-1 in a three-match campaign.
• Nepal won a bilateral series against a full member nation for the first time, defeating West Indies 2-1 in the three-match T20I series in September.
• Royal Challengers Bengaluru won an IPL trophy for the first time, defeating Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final.
• Chennai Super Kings finished at the last spot in the points table for the first time.
• Mumbai Indians lost a game while defending a 200-plus total for the first time, failing to defend their 203/6 runs total against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025.
• RCB won a match against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium after 10 years in IPL 2025.
• After 11 years, the Punjab Kings reached the IPL playoffs and finished as runners-up in IPL 2025.
• Kerala reached the Ranji Trophy final for the first time. But they lost the 2024-25 season final against Vidarbha.
• Jammu & Kashmir defeated Delhi for the first time in the Ranji Trophy by seven wickets in the 2025-26 season.
• Jharkhand won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) trophy for the first time, defeating Haryana in the SMAT 2025 final by 69 runs.
• The Capitals (formerly Daredevils) franchise won a trophy for the first time. The Dubai Capitals won the UAE’s ILT20 2025.
• MI Cape Town won the SA20 trophy for the first time, crushing Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 76 runs in the SA20 2025 final.
• Hobart Hurricanes won the Big Bash League (BBL) title for the first time, outplaying Sydney Thunder by seven wickets in the BBL 2024-25 final.
• Hobart Hurricanes Women won the WBBL trophy for the first time. They beat Perth Scorchers Women by eight wickets in the WBBL 2025 final.

List of historic records achieved by players in 2025-

• Virat Kohli smacked more than 10 sixes in an ODI series for the first time. (12 sixes in India vs South Africa series).
• Rohit Sharma reached the No.1 ICC ranking for the first time in his career by becoming the number one ODI batter in October.
• Rohit Sharma scored a half-century in an ICC final for the first time, smacking 76 runs against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.
• Rohit Sharma scored back-to-back fifties in IPL after nine years.
• For the first time, a captain took a fifer in IPL, with Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya (5/36) achieving the feat against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025.
• England batter Joe Root scored a test century in Australia for the first time, hitting 138* runs in the second test of The Ashes 2025-26 in Brisbane.
• Australian pacer Mitchell Starc clinched a seven-wicket haul in a test innings for the first time. He took seven wickets for 58 runs in the first innings of the first test of The Ashes 2025-26 in Perth.
• Five Indian batters scored centuries in a test match for the first time. (Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant (twin centuries), KL Rahul versus England in the 1st test at Headingley, Leeds).
• Three Indian batters scored 500+ runs for the first time in a test series. Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja achieved the feat in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
• For the first time, the South Africa captain scored a triple century in test cricket. Stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder slammed an unbeaten 367 runs in a test match against Zimbabwe in July 2025.
• After 42 years, a captain scored a century and took a five-wicket haul in tests. Ben Stokes achieved the rare feat in the fourth test against India in Manchester in July.
• After 21 years, an Indian bowler picked a 10-wicket haul in a test match in the SENA countries. Akash Deep (10/187) achieved the record in the second test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against England in Birmingham.
