Yasim Murtuza to lead as Hong Kong announce 20-member squad for Asia Cup 2025

Hong Kong are part of Group B in Asia Cup 2025.

Hong Kong have announced a 20-member squad for Asia Cup 2025. Yasim Murtuza will lead the team in the tournament, while Babar Hayat has been named as the vice-captain of the team, which is part of Group B in Asia Cup 2025.

They will face strong opponents, such as Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, in their pool. Hong Kong will play their opening game of the tournament against Afghanistan on September 9 in Abu Dhabi. Later, they will face Bangladesh on September 11 in Abu Dhabi and Sri Lanka on September 15 in Dubai.

Ahead of the tournament, they will also undergo a preparation camp in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), starting August 24. Under the guidance of head coach Kaushal Silva, the squad will participate in competitive matches and undergo training sessions during the camp.

The Hong Kong squad comprises a combination of young and experienced players. Senior members like Anshuman Rath, Nizakat Khan, Babar Hayat, Aizaz Khan, Ehsan Khan, Kinchit Shah, Ayush Shukla, and Haroon Arshad will play a crucial role for the team.

Notably, this is the fifth time Hong Kong have qualified for the Asia Cup. Earlier, they qualified in the 2004, 2008, 2018, and 2022 editions. Meanwhile, the tournament will begin on September 9 in the UAE and will witness the final on September 28.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai are two venues for the tournament. Eight teams will battle for the title in this year’s Asia Cup. India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE are placed in Group A.
