India U19 beat Australia U19 by seven runs in the first Youth ODI in Rajkot on Friday, September 18. The match was cut short to 20 overs per side because of rain. India scored 182 for six before Australia finished on 175 for seven in their 20 overs.
The game had two young Indian batters in focus. Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, made his India U19 debut and made his presence felt. Anvay Dravid, son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, also played a quick innings to give India a strong finish.
India had to make the most of their 20 overs after the rain delay. Aaryavir gave the team a good start, while Anvay came in later when India needed quick runs. Their efforts helped India put up a total of 182 for six.
Australia also kept the chase close. Neel Patel scored 45 off 31 balls, while Hayden Barbulovic made 40 off 24. Captain Jack Czosnek hit 55 off 27 balls, but India managed to stop Australia at 175 for seven.

Aaryavir Sehwag opened the innings with captain Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani. The young batter started well and hit five fours during his 26-ball stay at the crease.
He scored 28 runs and shared 45 runs with Raichandani for the opening wicket. Raichandani made 15 runs from 15 balls. Aaryavir Sehwag was looking to keep the scoring going but was dismissed by Australian pacer Spencer Green just after the powerplay. He was caught at long-off.
It was still a good start to his India U19 career. The youngster had already played domestic cricket before getting the India U19 chance. He also played for West Delhi Lions in the 2026 Delhi Premier League, where he scored 24 runs in two matches.
Anvay Dravid hits 38 off just 18 balls
Anvay Dravid came to the crease at No. 6 when India were in trouble at 88 for four. The wicketkeeper-batter did not take much time to attack the Australian bowlers.
He scored 38 runs from only 18 balls. His innings included two fours and three sixes, giving him a strike rate of 211.11. Anvay also put together a 69-run partnership with Yashbardhan Chauhan. The two batters helped India move from a difficult position to a strong total.
Anvay’s innings ended in the 18th over when Eli Brain bowled him. However, by then India had got the runs they needed from the middle and lower order.
The 17-year-old had already played two Youth ODIs against Sri Lanka in July. He scored 14 in the first game and then made 87 off 67 balls in the second match.
The second Youth ODI will also be played in Rajkot on September 21. Aaryavir will now look to carry the same momentum, while Anvay will be hoping to continue his good run with the bat.
Both players have already shown that they can play important roles for India U19. Aaryavir gave India a steady start at the top, while Anvay’s quick 38 helped change the game in the final overs.
