The Duleep Trophy 2026 semi-finals have provided another platform for players to contend for a spot in the Indian Test side. A phase of major changes is underway in the red-ball team, so every Indian player is on their toes as they hunt for a spot in the Test setup.

With the Indian domestic season underway, the four-day contest between the zonal teams is being closely watched. 

The 2026 edition has returned to the traditional format, with Central Zone, the defending champions, currently taking on East Zone in the first semi-final.

On the other hand, South Zone are clashing against North Zone in the other fixture of the domestic knockouts. Both matches began on August 30 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

What happened in the two semi-finals?

The first semi-final between Central Zone and East Zone produced a dramatic contest. Central were bowled out for 266, with Rinku Singh making a crucial 60 off 88 balls and Harsh Dubey contributing 27. East Zone matched the total with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi‘s spectacular knock. 

Mukesh Kumar was one of Central’s standout performers with the ball, taking 3/56, while Mohammed Shami claimed 2/42. Harsh Dubey then impressed for Central with 4/66 as East were bowled out for 266.

The second semi-final is between the South Zone and the North Zone. South Zone continued to forge ahead under a determined captain who scored the bulk of the runs.
