Jason Holder, who is playing for Gujarat Titans (GT) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, has impressed with his performances so far. The West Indies all-rounder was bought by the franchise for INR 7 crore in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

Holder didn’t get opportunities in initial games, which came as a surprise. However, once he made his debut for GT, the franchise has looked a class apart.

In five games so far, Holder has clinched 10 wickets at an average of 12.20 and an economy of 6.65. He clinched a four-wicket haul against Punjab Kings, for which he was also awarded Player of the Match. He also hunted a three-wicket haul in a clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Notably, Gujarat struggled to win games at the start and something seemed to be missing from their squad. However, after the inclusion of Holder, they are among the favourites to reach the playoffs now. Recently, they won four games in a row and currently capture the third spot in the points table. Holder’s inclusion in the playing XI has come as a big boost for the side.

GT have a strong pace unit with the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. The addition of Holder adds depth to their pace attack. Moreover, his strict economy of just over 6 has helped them to restrict the opposition team from going big.

He is a reliable bowler who can bowl both in the powerplay as well as the death overs. His bouncers and back-of-the-length deliveries have helped him to overpower opposition batsmen.

In the initial games, GT heavily relied on their top order batters- Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler. In a few games, their middle-order struggled to score despite a blistering start.

Also, their middle order looked vulnerable when top order fell cheaply. After the addition of Holder, GT have a reliable lower-order batter. With Holder and Rahul Tewatia, Titans have more finishing power and batting depth in chases.
