Rishabh Pant returned to India’s test XI in the 1st IND vs BAN test in Chennai.
Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant survived a life-threatening car accident in December 2022. At that time, there were uncertainties if Pant could ever play cricket again. During his recovery, Rishabh went through lengthy and arduous rehabilitation for more than a year.
The wicket-keeper batter then made his comeback to top-level cricket through the Indian Premier League 2024. Pant scored 446 runs in 13 matches before getting selected in the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June. After winning the T20 world title in Barbados, Pant was picked for the Sri Lanka white-ball tour, where he made his ODI comeback as well.
Recently, Pant was also seen playing in the Duleep Trophy 2024, which was his first First-Class (FC) game since his car accident. The left-handed batter cracked 61 runs off 47 balls in India B’s second innings against India A in Bengaluru.

After 634 days, Pant has made his comeback to India’s test XI with the 1st IND vs BAN test in Chennai. Coincidentally, his last test match also came against Bangladesh. He played the game just a week prior to his car crash in December 2022.
