Indian cricket team will play a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh from October 6.

The Indian cricket team will begin their home season on September 19 with a two-match test series against Bangladesh, which will be followed by three T20Is.

The first T20I will be played on October 6 in Gwalior. The second game will be played in Delhi on October 9 and the third T20I will be played on October 12 in Hyderabad.

Given the IND vs BAN T20I series is sandwiched between the test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, the Indian management and BCCI selectors are expected to give rest to some of their multi-format players in order to manage their workload.

India would want their test players to be fresh and not overworked with a long test season ahead, which includes the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia later this year.

Let’s take a look at three Indian cricketers who might be rested from the Bangladesh T20Is:

1. Shubman Gill

India’s new vice-captain in white-ball cricket Shubman Gill might be among the players who might get rested for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. This is mainly because Gill is most likely to play in the home test series against both Bangladesh and New Zealand. India would be hoping that he performs well in these two home series, which will be followed by the test series in Australia.

In order to manage his workload, the Indian selectors could give a rest to Gill from the T20Is against Bangladesh.

2. Rishabh Pant

Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has made his much-awaited comeback to the test squad nearly after surviving a life-threatening car accident in December 2022. He has been selected in the test squad for the first test match in Chennai and is expected to start ahead of Dhruv Jurel.

Pant, though, could be rested for the T20Is against Bangladesh. The Indian selectors might want to give him a break. Pant has played plenty of cricket since returning to the Indian Premier League: he featured in the T20 World Cup, and then in the tour of Sri Lanka. His form and fitness would be crucial for India in the test series in Australia.

3. Jasprit Bumrah

Veteran speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been handled cautiously by the Indian team management and the selectors in order to keep him injury-free. The right-arm pacer, who is part of the test squad for the first test against Bangladesh, has not played any cricket since the T20 World Cup in June.

With 10 test matches lined up from September to January, followed by the Champions Trophy, Bumrah is all but certain to be rested from the T20Is against Bangladesh.
