How much money did Rishabh Pant lose after being traded from LSG to DC?

Rishabh Pant has parted ways with LSG and joined Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2027.

Indian Cricket Team wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of IPL 2025, after parting ways with his former side Delhi Capitals (DC). LSG spent a whopping amount of INR 27 crore to capture the wicket-keeper batsman in their squad just two years ago.

By securing a ₹27 crore deal from LSG, Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history. He was also appointed the new captain by Lucknow ahead of the 2025 season. While Pant looked forward to a new journey in the IPL as a leader and a batter after joining Lucknow, the last two seasons were the most challenging ones in his IPL career.

The left-handed batsman struggled to score runs in IPL 2025 except for one century towards the end of the tournament. In 14 games, he scored 269 runs at a poor average of 24.45 and a strike rate of 133.17, with one ton and a fifty.

In the 2026 edition, the wicket-keeper batsman mustered 312 runs in 14 games at an average of 28.36 and a strike rate of 138.05. He could only score one fifty and got out cheaply on most occasions.

Moreover, Pant also struggled with his captaincy. Under his captaincy, LSG failed to qualify for the playoffs in both seasons. Furthermore, in IPL 2026, they finished last in the points table after winning only four out of 14 matches.

After LSG’s disastrous show in IPL 2026, Pant stepped down as the captain just after the conclusion of the league. Now, he has also parted ways with the franchise. On June 23 (Tuesday), Pant joined his former team, Delhi Capitals, through a trade deal.

DC have captured Pant from LSG in exchange for spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Pant’s previous salary was ₹27 crore, which has now been revised to ₹15 crore. On the other hand, Kuldeep has joined LSG for INR 13.5 crore.

As a result, Pant has suffered a loss of ₹12 crore after joining Delhi Capitals. With INR 27 crore in the last two editions, he was the costliest player ever in IPL history.

Notably, Pant started his IPL career with Delhi Capitals in 2016. Except for his first tournament, he made a mark with his performance in every season. Batting in the middle-order, he mustered crucial runs in the middle overs and rocked the field with his blistering batting style.

From 2016 to 2024, Pant played eight seasons for Delhi and, except for his debut season, scored over 300+ runs each year. In 111 games for the side, the star wicket-keeper piled up 3,284 runs at a decent average of 35.31 and a fabulous strike rate of 149.

He also slammed one century and 18 fifties during this tenure. Unlike LSG, Pant did a fabulous job for Delhi over the years with his batting. Even in Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy tenure, Pant was a key batsman for the side.
