Rishabh Pant is leading the Rest of India (ROI) squad against J & K in the ongoing Irani Cup.

The Irani Cup is one of the premier first-class tournaments played at the domestic level in India. It features one match between the current champion of the Ranji Trophy and the Rest of India squad. The 63rd edition of the Irani Cup is currently underway.

Jammu and Kashmir, who won the Ranji Trophy for the first time, are taking on ROI at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar. Paras Dogra is leading the hosts.

The game began with J&K winning the toss and electing to bowl first. They have been on the top with a great bowling display on Day 1. ROI-led by Rishabh Pant find themselves at 155/7 in 53.2 overs after the first two sessions on Day 1.

They had a good start and were 108/2 in 32.2 overs and then lost the next five wickets for just 47 runs. It was a poor batting collapse, which brought J&K back into the game.

The ROI had a partnership of 76 runs for the second wicket between Shikhar Mohan and Sarfaraz Khan. Shikhar scored 60 runs while Sarfaraz scored 45 runs. Once the partnership got broken, it gave J&K a slim chance to make a comeback, and they did so.

The ROI captain Rishabh Pant even failed to score runs in the first innings. He got out after scoring 10 runs off 36 balls with one four. Pant tried to play a big shot by stepping out of the crease but couldn’t time it well.

Umar Nazir dismissed him on the third ball of the 46th over. Notably, Pant is leading the rest of India in this game and is not part of any Indian side competing simultaneously at different levels.

He wasn’t picked for the Indian T20I side for the Asian Games 2026 and was ignored from the IND vs WI ODI series also. Pant is also not part of the India A squad for three ODIs and two unofficial tests against Australia A.

When did Rishabh Pant play his last match for India?

Rishabh Pant played his last match for India against Sri Lanka in the second Test in August 2026.
