Asia Cup 2025: How can Sri Lanka qualify for the final after defeat to Pakistan in the Super Four clash?

Sri Lanka have lost two games in the Super Fours stage of the Asia Cup 2025.

The 2022 Asia Cup winners, Sri Lanka, who were unbeaten in the Group B stage, are teetering on the edge of elimination. With just one game left against India on Friday, September 26, they are at the fourth place on the table with 0 points and a negative Net Run Rate (NRR).

How Sri Lanka can qualify for the Asia Cup 2025 final?

The equation is no longer in Sri Lanka’s control. Unless Bangladesh defeats both India and Pakistan, they will be eliminated from the tournament before they even play India on Friday, September 26, in Dubai. Sri Lanka must defeat India in their last Super Four encounter, scheduled for September 26.

Sri Lanka must hope Bangladesh wins both of their games and defeats India to qualify. NRR will decide which side advances to the summit match in this scenario, which will put the 2022 champions in a three-way tie with India and Pakistan.

Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be eliminated from the competition if the Tigers lose both games, while India and Pakistan will each record two wins and face off in the final.
